The equipment have been delivered last week to be installed in the petrochemical plant by the Mississippi River, the 3rd largest in the USA.

The Garyville Refinery, located in southeastern Louisiana, is the 3rd largest American Oil refinery. The plant is owned by Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC), located by the Mississippi River, between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, has a production capacity of 539.000 barrels per day.

The refinery has been expanded on multiple occasions, most recently with the $ 3.9 bilion Garyville Major Expansion Project, completed in 2009. Now the plant employs 900 workers.

The two hydrotreating reactors purchased last year by Jacobs Engineering, Houston, finally last week have been shipped from Porto Marghera after less than fourteen months of manufacturing period.

Both reactors have a thickness of 170 mm and a diameter of 5 meters, they have been fabricated at Roncadelle plant and completed in the workshop of Marghera. The first one weighs 310 tons, is 21 meters long and has an diameter of 5m; the second one is 26.5 meters long and weighs 460 tons.

MPC is a long-standing customer of ATB Riva Calzoni who had already supplied hydrocracking and hydrotreating reactors for unit upgrading in 2005 and in 2009.
